Why Heswall.com?
Heswall.com exists to showcase and promote Heswall and it’s businesses
to local residents, Wirral and the World. By doing so, we aim to help keep
people doing their business and shopping locally, so helping support the community and keep the
businesses healthy and vibrant – ‘not just surviving, but thriving’.
What's in it?
Well, basically, two types of content: general interest material - like
the history of Heswall, photos, trivia, forums, etc. - and the more
‘serious’ businesses and services listings.
Who runs Heswall.com?
Mike does most of the day-to-day running of the site and advertising, but
Phil provides invaluable technical support, mainly on the database side.
Not forgetting Syl who updates the What's On and helps with proof reading
etc.
When did it start?
In fact, the domain name Heswall.com was first registered back in 1997, to
ensure that it stayed locally owned and also in order to provide a web
presence for the local community. In 2002, the name Heswall.co.uk, was
acquired for the same reason. However, it's only in the last two years that the
site has been redesigned and seriously promoted.
Are all Heswall businesses listed?
Sadly, no. Almost always, this is because we simply haven’t managed to
get around to contacting them. Thankfully, almost all companies we speak
to are very supportive and join us.
Why are some business types not included?
We’re trying to ‘cover all bases’ but it takes time. In the future,
hopefully each and every business in Heswall will be on.
But I've spotted a business listed which
is outside Heswall
Very occasionally, you’ll find that this is the case. It’s for one of
these reasons:
there are (to our knowledge) no businesses of that type actually in
Heswall itself
the one/s that are have declined to join us (doesn’t often happen!)
the owner lives in Heswall
they have been of specific help to Heswall.com
they are very close to Heswall (we include Pensby and Parkgate, for example)
Hang on, the Things To Do listing is
nearly all outside Heswall. How come?
Well, that’s more of a service for Heswall residents to find things, so
until Heswall gets it’s own Leisure Centre or Safari Park...
How's it going?
Thanks for asking. Well, it’s going very well indeed, thanks,
we’re getting hundreds of visits a day and it’s growing steadily. The
name is now known well and it’s a significant entity in the area.
How much does it cost to advertise?
Well, it varies, both for the type of advertising and for the type of
business.
